Long time no post

Its been a long time since I last posted so thought I ought to, prompted by the one and only angerhontis.
Everything is changed now, Im hitched (ooer) and got a new job (still at GSK) "Building Facilities and Controls technician" - it sounds nice but sooooo stressful!
Other than that nothing to report!

A friend sent me this recently...

...and although it made me cry a little, it also made me smile.

You had a brief holiday Jake, but you sure as hell made the most of it.

Busy like a busy busy bee

Buzz Buzz Buzz

It has been a busy month! Still doing agility with the dog which he is thriving at! The little man seems to really enjoy it, just wish we had space to practice at home. Been working on my career plan for the next few years awaiting redundancy, the CV is all written up now, and posted on Monster, as well as being signed up to a few technical agencies. Also been getting ready for Uni which i start soon (getting nervous now!!), and finally trying keep the house in a livable state as we get used to having a lodger in the spare room (a big change for everyone concerned for various reasons)

Recent events has also made me more glad than ever that Ian and I are happy in what we have - we have had our drama's but we love each other and I am glad we are getting married and making that commitment to be together, and although he doesnt say it, I think he is too. I really couldnt see myself without him.
The wedding, on that note, is coming up fast now! 6 months to go and most of the bits are sorted! the dresses, the venue, the cake....ooer! Il have a stupid name before I know it.

Its all gone Pete Tong

I had a great 2 days at Alton towers (photos are up on facebook and photobucket), I love theme parks. Lots of rides, relaxing, and Ian drowning me in the waterpark. Yay! (although we had a hellish journey up, ending up stuck in Birmingham for an hr after overhead line problems so it took 9hrs instead of 4!)

Then I come home and get a phonecall from a guy at work with some rather shoddy news.

So, after a year of speculating that the big wigs at GSK were running down the Crawley site it's finally happened. They announced its proposed to be closing in three years time, Iv had calls from dozens of people asking about it cos its been all over the local news for a few days now, we've had camera's and whatnot outside the site gates... what a load of fun.

Which leaves me in a bit of a pickle. What the hell do I do with myself once I get made redundant?
I can't see myself applying for a job similar to what I am employed to do now - electrical maintenance. I'd like something a bit more techy, but what! Or Where? I will hopefully have a BEng in electrical and electronic engineering by then, is that likely to help...I hope so, but who knows.

I've not slept great since the news I have to admit, and its likely I will be there at least 2 more years so I better start learning how to relax!!

"Wake up the dying dont wake up the dead"

Wake up the dying,
Dont wake up the dead
Change what your sayin,
Dont change what youve said
Now that its time that
I got out of bed

When I'll walk myself
Down sycamore street
The sun beats down
No shoes on my feet
And I stumble on
A daisy through concrete

Pink and brown babies
In pink stroller cars,
Know that its good
They dont care where they are
They know that home
Doesnt feel very far

When I'll walk myself
Down sycamore street
The sun beats down
No shoes on my feet
And I stumble on
A daisy through concrete

I Have not had a good week. Work has been boring, I've spent most of it on my own.. I have been feeling a bit ill and run down, so ate like a pig (dont tell anyone but i ate a whole bar of dark choc on my own!). I went out for drinks with work yesterday and now I'm suffering for it, and yes I know its self inflicted!

But, Im sitting here now, listening to some music and being cheered up by it. The Eels is currently playing and no matter the subject matter, no matter how sad and lonely the lyrics appear to be at times... there is always a sense of unconditional hope. A Daisy through concrete is a song that always cheers me up. The thought of walking down the street barefoot, tripping on that little bit of beauty amongst a concrete paradise..its a thought that makes me smile.

Even the albums written surrounding the tragic death of his sister, there is hint of hope in the songs. "the friendly ghost" and "last stop: this town" projecting the image that even after you die you get the chance for that last goodbye. "Are you missing the dearly bereft?"

On a buster note, we have been t-touching this week, which he seems to be enjoying and it does actually chill him out which is good! He is dozing by my feet as we speak... Also been working on him walking like a normal dog, not a steam train! So out we go armed with clicker and cheese, and after 5mins he gets the idea and walks in a very civilised manner.

I'm going to leave you today with possibly my favourite eels song, Ps you rock my world.

exercise, fitness and drowning!

A busy week it has been, I have been on earies, so I have had to meet with lady 5am once again for the week, whoever invened that time of day is not a nice person! I fnally wake up at around midday, coinciding quite well with lunch!
Then when i come home I can get fit as part of my wedding regime with the new game Ian bought me home, wii fit
It is surprisingly good. Tracks your weight and BMI, encourages you to have good posture and tracks it...it also calclates your "wii age"... mine managed to go from 23 on day 1 to 35 on day 3! Not good! Personally I blame early days, and doing i after walking around brighton with buster boy for 4 odd hours.

Speaking of brighton... it turns out, water is faster than claire. I managed to deck in the water, not once, but twice. I had to walk about is soaking shoes and jeans til i managed to pick up some flip flops....and walk around in flip flops and wet jeans for the rest of the day....yay.
